Get Clients Now! Filling the Pipeline, Week 2

By Selene M. Bowlby in Marketing on June 30th, 2008

Here we are at the 2nd week of the Get Clients Now! 28 Day Marketing Program aimed at Filling the Pipeline. I hope everyone had a productive first week!

I’ve been doing a lot of work on my Success Ingredient items (specifically Networking Venues). I’m seeing a huge difference this time around as far as being able to spend MUCH more time on the program specifics… maybe a little TOO much time, LOL, but good none-the-less.

Success Ingredients – Week 1

I seem to be putting off the Description of Services (repeat of last month…) this time in favor of the Networking Venues. I’ve done a great deal of work in this area, updating some of my unused social media profiles, and setting up a lot of new ones. I’ve got a post on social media in the works for later this week where I’ll link to all of my profiles…

  1. Networking Venues Progress: 75%
by July 4, 2008 – Swaped this with Description of Services
  2. Description of Services Progress: 90%
by July 11, 2008 – Swaped this with Networking Venues
  3. Web Promotion Strategy Progress: 10%

I mentioned last week that I’m reading Itty Biz’s new eBook:
SEO School: How to Become an SEO Ninja to help with this Success Ingredient. If you haven’t bought the eBook yet – today’s the last chance for you to get the $9 discount – so consider getting it at the discounted rate today!

Daily / Weekly Actions – Week 1

I did great last week as far as accomplishing items from my daily / weekly action list. I’ve been able to spend SO much time focusing on my marketing efforts, since taking the “freelance plunge” in order to run my business full time.

  • Total (# of 10)
    7 – 9 – 8 – 8 – 7

Program Goal – Week 1

I’m off to a slow start as far as reaching my program goals, but I’m only 1 week into this program, so I expect this will pick up.

On the new client front – I now have new work from an existing client, and am wondering whether or not I should include that in the New Client count?

It generally does take less work to get new work from an existing client, however there is still work involved, which is why I’m considering including this in my Program Goal Progress. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the matter!

I’m on the verge of adding a NEW client to the list, but have to wait for the paperwork to come in before I can count this as official.

  • Program Goal
    20 new prospects / 4 new clients
  • My Progress
    10% – 2 new prospects / 0% – 0 new clients

How Was Your First Week? And A Question…

I’m anxious to see how everyone last week! Please leave a comment below and let us know about your progress. Are there any specific challenges you have been facing with the program?

And a specific question: What are your thoughts as far as including New work from an Old client in your “New Client” list?

Hi Selene! I’m still here with you! What is your definition of “new client” when you set your program goal? I would just base it on that. Maybe you really mean “4 new projects”? If so, then count them. If you really mean new clients you’ve never worked with, then don’t. :)

As for me, I have 100% finished one of my success ingredients, am about 80% done with my 2nd and 0% on my 3rd. I have 19% of my program goal achieved (my goal is 100 new prospects and I have gotten 19, so far). I start advertising later this week or early next, so I hope that will see a sharp increase in traffic to my site. My daily totals were 9-10-10-10-6, so as you can see, I didn’t do some of my weekly items last week. LOL! I spent too much time on my success ingredients, I guess.

    Have a good week!

  2. @Nicole – Thanks for your thoughts on new client vs new project. I did initially mean “new client” – I think I’ll take this on a case by case basis… For example, the new project I was referring to was a banner ad design for a client that I had already designed and developed a complete web site for. You might know her, LOL ;) This isn’t a huge project though, so I ultimately decided not to include it…

However, on the other end of the spectrum, I had a client that I had done some banners for, and is now interested in looking into a complete new design for her web site. This IS a big project – so at this point I’ve counted this client towards my “new prospect” goal, and if she decides to have me work on her site, I’ll count it as a “new client” – just for the fact that this is a complete job.

WTG on your progress! Those are some great daily totals and looks like you’re doing very well on your Success Ingredients. I hope your next check-in is equally as productive!
